Team pulse that is not a huddle or a weekly bot
A pulse is a written record. A meeting is not.
Managers try to steal a team pulse from rituals they already have. The huddle becomes “how is everyone.” The retro absorbs climate questions. The 1:1 swallows every complaint so the team score never exists. All-hands puts a “pulse” slide on a screen and nobody answers. None of those are a pulse you can read next month.
What a team pulse is for
A team pulse is a short, repeatable read on whether the unit can do the work. Wolfloyee Team Harmony uses three ratings: skills, collaboration, and impact. Monthly. Private Slack DM. About a minute.
That is not a weekly mood bot, and it is not an engagement suite. People searching team pulse often get BambooHR or Qualtrics pages. Those are HR programs. This page is the Slack-first monthly habit for a small US tech team.
Huddles do not leave a score
A huddle can surface a blocker. It cannot give you last month versus this month. There is no n≥3 rule. There is no anonymity. The quiet person nods. You leave with a feeling.
Keep huddles for work in motion. Keep the pulse as a written DM on a fixed day. Mixing them trains people to perform in the meeting and skip the form.
Retros are for shipping
A retrospective is about the work: what shipped, what blocked, what changes next sprint. Stuffing harmony questions into that meeting makes the retro long and the pulse dishonest.
Keep the retro agenda on delivery. Schedule Team Harmony as its own monthly DM. If you want the split in more detail, the pulse versus retrospective note is on the blog. This guide is the ritual rule: do not merge the rooms.

1:1s are not a team average
A manager who is good at 1:1s still only hears what one person will say to their face. That is useful. It is not a team pulse. Patterns across the unit stay invisible until someone quits.
Wolfloyee shows a unit average only after n≥3. Use 1:1s to act on a dip. Do not use them as the measurement.
All-hands slides are not answers
A “how are we doing” slide in all-hands is theater. Nobody types a real rating into a town hall. If you need a number, send the DM. If you need a story, talk after Insights unlock.
Async teams still need a hallway
Remote and hybrid groups lose the corridor signal: the sigh after a meeting, the “that doc is a mess” aside. A monthly private DM is not a hallway. It is the written substitute that does not require another meeting.
Public beta is free. After beta $1 USD per employee per month. Add to Slack when you want the pulse sent for you. Do not invent occupancy sensors or AI insight percents. This product asks three questions.
